Social media and donors
Thanks to social media, we’re all publishers now. What are you saying on your publishing platforms? I recently spoke with a nonprofit executive who sees Facebook as a great way to ask for charitable contributions. Yes, under certain conditions and with appropriate cultivation. Social media isn’t just a way to ask for donations. In fact, it should be used less for overt ‘asks.’ The best use of social media is for attracting new followers and making them fall in love with your organization by sharing impact stories – the difference you are making in the community. Social media is a fantastic cultivation tool in your toolbox. And the result will be better informed, more engaged donors who – over time – will give more and stay with your organization longer.
